Tanji is a small local fishermen's town, about 20 km south of Kololi, and definitely worth your visit.
The beach is the centre of activity: colourful piroques come from the sea to offer their catch to locals and owners of the larger (hotel-)restaurants. The fish is smoked and dried everywhere; you can smell this proces from far.
Just past Tanji is the Tanji Village Museum. In a one hour tour, you can get an accurate idea of the past and present of the African life. Definitely worth the visit if you are in the area!
