Fajara is a typically African residential area around the place where Atlantic Road and Kairaba Avenua meet. Fajara is a very popular area among both Gambians and foreigners, with some gorgeous houses and good shopping facilities (with for example the Dutch department store "Bijenkorf"). The beach, an 18-hole golf course, a supermarket and some good restaurants are all within walking distance.
Our personal tips for a bite or drink:
The Butchers Shop
Butcher's shop and a (good) restaurant. Highly recommended, especially for lunch. Great plats du jour, tapas and nice salads.
Ngala Lodge
The best place for a wonderful dinner by sunset in one of the best restaurants of the country.
Blue Kitchen
Varied menu and very reasonable prices.
