This special and luxurious Mandina River Lodges are uniquely located in the Makasutu forest, a mangrove area near the branch of the Gambia river, in the heart of the African bush.
The 1000 hectare Makasutu Cultural Forest is at about 45 of the seaside resorts and is the results of over 15 years of hard work by two English people.
The lodges on Mandina are of exceptionally high quality and are built with an excellent eye for detail. The River Lodges are provided with solar energy and are either floating or stilted. The newly build Jungle Lodges are situated a few meters from the river. Each suite has its own bathroom and compost toilet. Fans offer refreshment.
The 2 story Stilted Lodge has a separate bedroom, lounge and living.
Jungle Lodges have a private roof terrace with amazing views on the mangroves.
There is a very large beautiful pool with bar and terrace. You can choose to dine in your lodge or in a romantic private setting on the terrain. At night, this is a magical place because of lights and outdoors fires.
With only 8 lodges, this spacious resort has an exclusive atmosphere and lots of privacy. The area has many different bird species and you can explore the forest by foot or canoe, by yourself or with a local guide.
The peace is only interrupted by singing birds and screaming monkeys that live in this forest.
